What a great time at Bathurst for the 500. Thanks What a great time at Bathurst for the 500. Thanks to @thriftyaustralia for all the fun.
Turns out the hardest thing about car reviewing is Turns out the hardest thing about car reviewing is remembering how to enter a car. I don’t really have an explanation for this one. At least the #hyundai #i30n
Frankly, I was expecting the #hyundai #i30 N to be Frankly, I was expecting the #hyundai #i30 N to be a humourless city-bashing sedan. But what greeted me was an aggressively-designed and very fun car. When you’re in N mode the powertrain and chassis settings are set to their highest levels. As Hyundai says: “engine response, steering, exhaust sound, rev-matching and the dampers of the electronically controlled suspension are at the most dynamic.”You might have noticed they mention exhaust sound. Yes. The sound is customisable. This isn’t new to the motoring world, BMW famously had the same feature in the M3. But it’s certainly the first car I’ve ever driven with this option. You can customise the car’s suspension and transmission in the menus and save it as a drive profile. To be honest, I didn’t feel an enormous amount of difference when I tinkered with the settings. However, my driving was limited to short stints on highways and weaving through city streets. If you were to flog this baby on a track day, you’d likely get a better feel for the different modes I’m not a race car driver, though. I’m an office worker who tootles along so conservatively I’ve been overtaken by drunks on Lime bikes more than once. That’s the joy of the i30 N: it lets you pretend without the expense, inconvenience or discomfort of an actual race car. Sure you might be driving to your boring job, but when the traffic lights go green you can press the big red button on the steering wheel like it’s launch control. For a moment you’re not office drone number 341, you’re Lewis Hamilton. It’s make believe for adults. Yes it’s a bit silly, but it’s also fun.And isn’t that what cars are supposed to be?#carreview

It’s been around since the mid-2000s (and used in Lamborghinis for a while) but is being heavily adopted in concept cars today. What do you think? Like this look? #tokyo #conceptcar #bmw #nissan #subaru #tokyomobilityshow2023 #tokyomobilityshow
Introducing the “Neue Klasse”, which means ‘ Introducing the “Neue Klasse”, which means ‘new class’ in German. This little cutie patootie has the design markers of a BMW – the kidney grille (but not a stupid oversized one) a sedan-shape similar to the ubiquitous 3-series cars, and the the iconic backseat window with the “Hofmeister kink” (not as sexy as it sounds). The interior is completely surprising, mostly because it has yellow corduroy seats. I want to hate them. I can’t. I got very close to this concept car at the Tokyo Mobility show. Can’t wait to see a version of this car on the road in 2025. #tokyomobilityshow #tokyomobilityshow2023 #bmw #neueklasse #conceptcar #bmwconcept #carreview

They wouldn’t let me drive it around the Tokyo Mobility show, though. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to review it in the future… #tokyo #lexus #rov #rovlexus #tokyomobilityshow #tokyomobilityshow2023 #carreview
